Night Panic Attack Prevention for Children

The imagination of a child can sometimes harm him. The things you saw in the television can become real in the eyes of a child. After watching horror movies, children have the tendency to make a reality out of it. They would scream in terror and won't sleep as the night slowly moves to its peak. It seems a natural reaction from a child however if this is not address, things might get worse. Learn to acknowledge that children are still very vulnerable from fears.

The fear of a child accelerates due to the additional darkness and aloneness. After the child has a nightmare, he would realize that he is surrounded by darkness. He will feel alone and hopeless. At this point, everything would accumulate and the child would feel hyperventilated and thus panic attack occurs.

As parents, we must understand that children need to cope up first before they are left alone. Our children have to learn independency or else they will suffer from constant panic attack. Keep in mind that we should never force a child to cope with darkness. Slowly introduce him into the dark that it is a friend. Otherwise, the child will get hyperventilated every time he is in the dark.

Also, food consumption of a child might affect the way his brain function. Consuming insufficient amount of nutrients and eating the wrong foods might disrupt the functioning of his mind. So, let the child eat healthy and nutritious foods. And before he sleeps, don't give him something heavy for the stomach to digest.

You might also stop teasing your child and telling him ghost stories. You won't know what is running through his brain. There is a high probability that he will think that ghosts and monsters are real.

If the child is still hunted by panic attacks, it is wise to seek medical advice as soon as possible. Probably, the child is suffering from something more. Keep in mind that the child's sleep is at stake here and if he can't have enough sleep, his stress level will fluctuate dramatically. - 30415
