Anxiety Disorder versus Panic Disorder

By Julie U. Stevenson

Those who suffer from any type of anxiety on a weekly basis often struggle to know for sure whether they are suffering from a generalized anxiety disorder or a panic disorder. The physical and mental discomforts suffered with each of these conditions are rather comparable, but there are also some very evident differences that set them apart.

Physical Symptoms of Anxiety

One of the most exclusive variances between a person who ails from panic attacks and one who has principle anxiety disorder, is that conditions of apprehension are usually only displayed during an genuine incident. In the case of an anxiety disorder victim, they encompass these emotions of discouragement and woe with them at all times.

A few elemental afflictions of the principle anxiety disorder can materialize as deep rigidity throughout the body, inability to pay attention for long periods of time, due to insistent worrying, and the lack of being able to fall into a slumber.

Panic attacks is a little more intense physically with having difficulty catching ones breath, feeling dizzy, uncontrollable tremors, a super rapid heart beat, and many other related projections.

Complications in Daily Life

Many people with a mild generalized anxiety disorder may have a normal life with small changes in their life. They may have difficulty focusing and their constant worrying and nitpicking at loved ones could interfere with their personal relationships.

Those suffering from a severe case of standard anxiety disorder can find themselves totally cut off from society, not being capable to hold down a job, socialize with friends, or even go out into the outside world.

For those with panic disorder, life seems to be in constant limbo with the anticipation of the next big attack. Avoiding situations and special places become common practice so as not to be caught without a means of escape if an attack is brought on. Over thinking and imagining embarrassment can in itself bring on an attack.

Lots of sufferers spend too much time trying to sift through every physical sensation that they go through in an effort to catch an attack before the onslaught.

A big concern with many suffering from the standard anxiety disorder is that with all of their worrying and being distraught, they can produc an all out attack. It is usually in cases where there may be a reason to have some concern and with the extra stressing they find themselves in a situation they can no longer handle.

If they are scared they could find themselves in a similar situation, there could be future attacks of panic. This is why in the case of acute cases of anxiety disorder individual often feel symptoms much like panic disorder although not often lasting as long or as severe. - 30415
